Gewehr 98 Danzig dated 1900 Listing ID: 3072537
Description
Pre-WW1 Danzig gewehr 98 made in 1900, chambered in 8mm Mauser. Barrel, bands, bolt, and receiver are matching. Buttplate, sight, magazine plate, and trigger housing are not. Has correct sight base with 200m marking, but lange roller coaster sight was replaced and only goes to 400m marking. Stock may be matching but too faded to tell.
This rifle was not reworked or blued over for use in another country like many Turkish examples. The original “in the white” finish has patina but is not corroded that I can see.
No Turkish markings or the like. All imperial German markings present, but stock cartouches are faint
Bore is in good condition for its age, does not appear to be corroded but is getting dark. There is corrosion on buttplate, magazine plate, and trigger. Stock is well-worn with some repairs made around furthest barrel band.
I also have about 100 8mm rounds to go with it.
