WW2 production Colt Commando. This pistol is nearly new and retains its numbers matching box. Many boxed Commandos have mismatched boxes numbered to other pistols. It is quite rare to find one still with its original box. The parkerized finish rates 99% and the grips are near perfect. Flaming bomb proof mark is strongly struck on the right side. The bore is mint. A factory letter on this pistol could yield more information as these pistols were used by many interesting units during the war. For example, the OSS was known to have issued Commandos. They were also issued to many corporations and defense plants across the US for plant protection/security personel. Produced as an alternative to the M1911 and M1911A1 these guns no doubt saw a lot of service in all theaters and here on the home front.
