I bought this to take a 1,000 yard class with, but the instructor won't allow AR15s even though the 6.5 Grendel is the AR-15 caliber with the longest effective range (1,000+ yds). SMH. So I'm selling it to buy a bolt gun instead. This rifle has the hard to find 18" barrel which gives you a noticeable boost in velocity over the standard 16" barrel . . . so bullets hit harder and drop less.

The Grendel is much more powerful than an AR-15 in 5.56/.223. The 6.5 Grendel uses the same high ballistic coefficient projectiles (bullets) as the 6.5 Creedmoor so it maintains its energy and is very wind resistant. Since the Grendel cartridge fits into an AR-15, the cartridge itself is smaller than the Creedmoor (which will work only in larger, heavier, and much more expensive AR-10s (and of course, bolt guns)). Since the Grendel cartridge is smaller than the Creedmoor, there's less room for powder so it is less powerful.
